Rebecca Ferguson visits Liverpool charity site

By Eamonn Lavery

Rebecca Ferguson swapped her stilettos for steel toe caps as she visited the site of Liverpool Habitat for Humanity (LHfH) in Toxteth to cut the turf for the next phase of housing development.

The charity allows those who cannot afford to cough up a costly deposit to waive the payment in return for putting in 500 hours of work on the build, and the chair of LHfH, Revd Dr Shannon Ledbetter, said that this approach leads to a strong sense of pride and community.

Rebecca met with representatives of the charity, a number of residents as well as members of the Territorial Army's 75 Engineer Regiment, who are helping with the build, using it as a training exercise.
