Merseyside Police carried out a series of raids on 14 properties in Kirkby as part of a planned operation targeting serious and organised crime, with an aim to put suspected gun thugs on the backfoot.

By midday, seven people were all in custody on suspicion of a variety of offences including possession of a drug with intent to supply, possession of a controlled drug, production of cannabis, criminal damage and assault of a police officer.

During the raids police quickly uncovered a cannabis factory at one address, 10kgs of what is believed to be amphetamine at another and a large amount of cannabis at a third.
