Born to Run, Liverpool - More Than a Marathon Undertaking

By Colin Bailey

Earlier this week BayTV caught up with Alan Rothwell, the Liverpool Half Marathon race coordinator and Managing Director of 'btr Liverpool'.

As the veteran of 42 marathons, Alan's infectious passion about the sport is evident and goes far beyond a merely commercial interest. He is the driving force behind a whole range of events tailored to cater to the needs of the running community and beyond.

In light of the recent bizarre events that surrounded the cancellation of the successful showcase Liverpool Marathon. Undeterred Mr Rothwell set out the range of runs still scheduled to take place.

These include the ever popular Santa Dash, Port Sunlight 10K, Mersey Tunnel 10K, The Wirral 10K and the Liverpool half marathon, taking place 17th March will see over 8000 runners depart from the Pier Head.

One of his goals alongside providing support for the running community is to break down the barriers that prevent people getting active and taking up the sport.

Absolute Beginners will launch in March and provide a friendly and free way to get the local community up and running.
