Preview: Everton vs Oldham AthleticBy Eamonn Lavery
Third-tier side Oldham Athletic FC will look to complete a sweep of Merseyside's Premier League contingent when they welcome Everton to Boundary Park on Saturday.
The Latics will wait on the fitness of striker Matt Smith, who scored a brace against Liverpool in the last round of the FA Cup.
Everton manager David Moyes said in his pre-match press conference that his side would not be taking the tie lightly, especially since the underdogs' escapades last time out in the competition.
Moyes also said that the priority for his side this season, rather than the FA Cup, is vying for a Champions League spot. The financial rewards for qualifying for Europe's biggest tournament far outweigh those of winning the world's oldest footballing competition, and the Scot drew on the example of Celtic who have seen a windfall in profits due to their qualification for the Champions League.
The Blues will be looking to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat at the hands of league leaders Manchester United at the weekend, but will be without striker Victor Anichebe as a result of a knock picked up in that game.
Sylvain Distin will provide some extra mettle at the back for Everton, as he returns from illness.
